Time-saving beauty hacks for back-to-school

Let's be fr, we're "on-the-go" for most of our school days and don't have time to get all glammed and ready for class (we know, so much for treating school like a fashion show). Time may not be on our side all the time, but there are def ways to hack the system. Here's your go-to touch-up cheat sheet, right this way...

Beat under-eye bags before bed

Pacifica Reusable Undereye Masks, $15 | Bubble Morning Rays Brightening Eye Cream, $14

POV: You're up late staring at your laptop finishing that Spanish essay and your eyeballs feel en fuego. Keep these masks in your fridge, pair with your favorite eye serum or cream, then wake up bright-eyed and beauty-tailed.

Refresh post-gym hair without a wash

Who has time to take an everything shower after gym class? Save the suds for later and use these tricks to refresh your 'do after a sweat sesh.

Start with dry shampoo

Mist a dry shampoo (we heart Batiste Original Dry Shampoo in Clean & Classic, $13, ulta.com) onto your roots to absorb all that sweat and oil, says trichologist Sophia Emmanuel. "Wait a few minutes, then brush or massage it out of your hair to remove any residue."

Make a messy bun

@abigaillinnn

There is quite literally nothing a messy bun can't fix. And good news for the gym girlies: Gritty hair is the secret ingredient. Start with a high pony, then back-comb for a volume boost. Divide into sections and twist around your pony's elastic, pinning at the base until the bun is built. Ends left a little out? Imperfect...and even better.

Distract with dutch braids

@evapautov

Tie down a dirty 'do with a look that doesn't ditch volume. While French braids are made by plaiting three strands over each other (adding hair as you go), the Dutch equivalent adds hair under each three-piece plait. The result is a bulkier braid that's held together even better with sweaty strands.

You have exactly 5 minutes before the first dance of the year

@tyronmachhausen

Colourpop Super Shock Shadow in Moon Daisy, $7 | R.e.m. Beauty Lustrous Liquid Eyeshadow in Lab Coat, $17 | ColourPop Cloud 9 pressed Powder Palette, $18

Icy, silvery blue eyeshadows are so simple and so back for this year. Best news? There's no eye color these quick hitters won't complement. Whether it's a periwinkle powder all over your lids or a shimmery silver brightening your inner eye corners, you'll want to stock these sweet shadows, stat. Save a song for us?

Quick fix

@lacyredway

The Fall/Winter '24 runways saw the resurgence of a go-to aughts girls everywhere: the pencil bun. Gather your hair at the nape of your neck and twist into a tight bun. Next, grab a pencil and, point facing up, stick it through the outer bottom of the bun. Once the point pops out on top, carefully flip the eraser side of the pencil toward the sky and poke the pointy end back through the top of the bun facing down.
