Alone - An original poem
Alone
Alone
There is a new emptiness
I feel,
Not as subtle as was
before, but
So strong I cannot describe the
Hollowness of it.
I want to be happy with someone
But I am still wondering, Who?
As I sit on the floor,
Thunder rumbling in the distance,
And rain pounds at my window pane
I wonder:
“Are you thinking of me?”
Is this hurting you; as much as it is
Hurting me?”
You are beginning to fade
Though.
Each day the conversation is less and less:
Finally, you are letting go.
I am so torn.
One part of me wants you
And the other is tugging at my soul,
dry, hushed whisper,
Echoing your past mistakes,
Crooning them in my ear,
Persuading me to let go.
That voice has become familiar for a while now.
It is the voice of knowing,
That was right all along.
Perhaps if I had listened I wouldn’t be so…
Alone…
