Even though the fighting can get real, having a sister means you have a built-in BFF. You two have been through it all, from the playdates to the break-ups. There’s nobody that knows you better than your sis, and she’s taught you some serious life lessons, too.

1. Sharing is caring 

Let’s face it, having a sister means having double the clothes (or, hey, at least twice the accessories). She always has the perfect top to go with those cute new skirt you bought, and you love her for it.

2. Imitation truly is the best form of flattery

Growing up, you were so annoyed that she copied your butterfly drawing for the fifth time in a row, but now you know that when someone copies you, it means you’re doing something right.

3. It’s not always about winning

You can’t win everything all of the time. Sometimes you have to share the spotlight, but you guys support each other through everything.

4. How to keep a secret

You tell each other anything and everything, because you know that she can keep her lips sealed. Your secrets are sooo safe with her.

5. It’s okay to be yourself

When you’re with your sister you can be your crazy self no matter how weird, because you know she wont judge you. She’s seen you at your worst and at your best and she still loves you.

6. How to have someone’s back

It started with sticking up for each other on the playground, but now you always have her back, no matter what.

7. Your parents are really weird

Watching your parents try to figure out how to take a selfie for the first time is hilariously mortifying. Nobody else understands but your sister, and having her there groaning with you makes it a little less embarrassing. 

8. How to play nice with others

You don’t always get your way, and sometimes you have to compromise.

9. How to have fun

You two spent your whole childhood going on silly adventures and making up crazy stories. Now that you’re older, you still carry around that adventurous spirit.

10. How to listen

Not only is your sister always there with open ears, but she gives really great advice, too.

11. Family is everything 

She made family vacations not only bearable, but endlessly entertaining. Because of her, you know how important family is and you wouldn’t trade that for anything.

12. How to love someone unconditionally

Let’s be honest. You’ve been through some weird phases and she stood by your side through it all. She’s always there for you and loves you the most.
