Dear Carol

My mom thinks I'm not ready to go to PG-13 movies but I'm sure I am. I already know about guy-girl stuff, and I've heard all the bad words but I don't say them. (Sometimes my parents say them!!!)

-Already Ready

Dear Already Ready,

Sometimes movies stink, whether they are G, PG, PG-13 or R. Others are terrific. Say, "Mom, let's go to the video store and pick out a movie we both can watch together." Once there, find movies that have a good review right on the box.

Consider starting with Romeo and Juliet. Explain that it will help you understand the language of Shakespeare (valid point) even though anyone who would do what they did for love is crazy (also true).
