Dear Carol
"Dear Carol, Why is the girl I like ignoring me?"
Dear Carol,
I’m going back to school in September. I used to have a crush on this girl, but she was straight. For a while, it was weird when she found out I had feelings. Then it wasn’t, and she slowly began hinting at being friends again. Lately, we’ve been able to talk to each other more. Also, I have a crush on this other girl, who is not straight. She didn’t feel the same about me, but she wanted to be really close friends. Ever since I confessed though, she hasn’t been answering my texts. Is she busy or ignoring me? She does have a mixed-up family life, so idk. I can forgive it either way.
- Girl Crush
Dear Girl Crush,
A new school year will bring the opportunity for lots of new connections. For now, keep the friendship going with the first girl. As for the girl who didn’t reciprocate your feelings, take a step back. Sometimes when one person confesses an attraction and the other person says, “Let’s be friends,” it’s a nice way to let someone down gently. No need to keep pursuing her affection. Other girls will be eager to get to know you better.
