Dear Carol,

I’ve been having a problem with a boy in my math class. I really like him, but he is a total idiot. I had classes with him last year and worked hard to establish the fact that I strongly dislike him. We argued over everything: science questions, colors on posters, you name it. Worst of all, everyone thought we should date, so I completely buried myself in schoolwork. But recently
I realized I do like him. I’m not sure why, it just happened. Still, most of our conversations end in arguments.

People are complicated, aren’t they? Maybe you both really like each other and really like to argue. Some couples never argue, others quarrel 24/7. Sounds like you two may need a reset so you can figure out if you actually like each other. Oh, and no more calling him a total idiot, OK?
