Dear Carol
School talent show chicken
Our big end-of-the-school-year
talent show is coming up. I signed up, but I might chicken out. What
should I tell myself so I don’t go onstage and puke?
Dear Stagefright,
I remember how sc-sc-sc-scared I was as
a guest on The Today Show. But instead of thinking, “What if
I mess up?” I kept telling myself, “How cool is this? I worked
hard for this opportunity!” So that is my advice. Look at your
moment in the spotlight as a wonderful, well-earned honor, no a
reason to barf. Turn your natural nervousness into healthy
excitement. It feels good to share your talents with people. Keep
practicing, then get out there and shine. Imagine how great it will
feel when you take your bow.
