HEALTH
Your Bod
I've been gaining weight. Should I blame my boobs?
Yes, your boobs are real. It’s true, breasts are composed of adipose tissue, also known as fatty tissue. In a lot of women, it’s that fatty tissue that comprises the bulk of breasts. For women with larger breasts, they can get awfully heavy—some women report back pain caused by them! Chances are, though, that the weight you gained isn’t just hanging out in your chest area.
Weight gain often accompanies puberty, but if you’re putting on weight quickly, it’s definitely time to head to the doctor’s office. It’s important to discuss your weight with your doctor—there is more to health than a BMI test you can take online, after all, and you shouldn’t attempt to alter the way you eat or live your life without talking to a doc first.
