Does touching your face give you more acne?
Does touching your face give you more acne?
Yes, touching your face can give you acne. When you are resting your hand on your chin while listening to a friend you or you are checking for blemishes with your fingers you are not only transferring loads of germs onto your face, but irritating existing breakouts by applying even slight pressure on them. But it’s not just your fingers you have to be wary of. Your cell phone, headband or bicycle helmet can clog your pores, too.
Wondering if all this touching is making you break out? Spend one day paying extra-close attention to your behavior. If you notice that you touch your face a lot—even if you’re just brushing your bangs out of your eyes—try to stop yourself. Eventually, it will become habit. Washing your hands frequently and disinfecting or cleaning objects that come in contact with your face can help, too.
