Your Bod
How do I wash down there without getting irritated?
Hey girlie! Washing your private parts is quick ‘n’ easy. In fact, the vagina is self-cleaning, so you don’t need to worry about it at all. Keeping your labia and vulva fresh can be as simple as a splash of water. Here are a few must-dos you need to remember before you wash up.
Be gentle. Choose something soft. A washcloth, sea sponge or your hand will work just fine. Rub gently under running water until any lasting bits of period yuckiness have been washed away.
Turn down the heat. If you’re into boiling-hot showers, you’ll want to tone it down when ya wash your privates. Getting scalded down there is no fun.
Ditch the soap. Soaps and special cleaning products called douches aren’t really good for your vagina. When you use them down there, you’ll be washing away the good bacteria that keeps ya healthy, not to mention disturbing your pH levels, which can lead to irritation. A quick swipe with the same soap you use on your bod won’t do damage, but it could rub ya the wrong way.
