Eat Right
Fat is out, fruit is in!
Fast food is everyone’s fave splurge, right? Well, The Journal of the American Medical Association recently released data on eating trends that might surprise you. It looks like American kids’ eating habits are taking a healthy turn. They’re eating less chicken nuggets, burgers, fries and sodas and more soup, yogurt, fruit, grilled chicken and chocolate milk.
It’s hard to tell for sure if this recent health kick is because of government efforts to limit junk food and increase physical activity in schools. Some data suggests that the economy might have something to do with it, but even the economy can’t be the only thing making a big diff to kids under thirteen.
Kids want to eat healthier and fast-food chains are listening. Burger King now has smaller burgers, sliced apples, low-sodium chicken tenders, apple juice with extra calcium and fat-free chocolate milk. McDonald’s has apples and yogurt, and even Wendy’s has mandarin oranges.
This data is def reason to hope that the days of greasy fast food are just about over.
What about you? Do you see yourself choosing healthy picks over greasy burgers and fries? Have your eating habits changed at all? Blog it out!
