The real reason breakfast is sooo important
Even
though you barely have enough time to catch the bus in the morning,
skipping breakfast is no longer an option. In fact, missing that
crucial meal may be the reason why you can’t ever seem to get those A’s
instead of B’s. Eating breakfast has been proven to make people perform
better in school and on tests, which equals better grades. Another crazy
fact? Kids who eat breakfast regularly are actually more likely to be
on time and attend school than those who don’t chow down at all in the
morning.
Skippin’ breakfast because you think it’ll make you lose weight? Wrong.
This often-purported myth is totally false, as skipping breakfast slows
down your body’s metabolism, which means you won’t burn calories and fat
as quickly as you would if you ate within an hour of getting out of
bed. Plus, you’ll be super hungry for lunch, which can lead to
overeating or snacking on foods that are completely unnecessary and
unsatisfying.
You don’t have to have a sit-down feast everyday, but you should make
healthy choices to give your bod what it needs. Instead of grabbing a
pastry or eating spoonfuls of sugary cereal, grab some protein and fiber
to keep you satisfied longer. Try making a turkey sausage, egg beaters,
cheese and whole-wheat English muffin sandwich before school. Sure
you’ll have to wake up a little earlier, but the benefits of this yummy
meal are endless!
