Eat Right
A quick trick for better snacking (plus a couple cinchy ideas)
Sometimes you just can't wait 'til dinner to eat something. Avoid mindless, unhealthy munching (like pounding a bag of BBQ chips) by swapping in these better-for-ya treats.
Dietitian Rosanne Rust has an easy tip for nabbing healthier between-meal bites. "To curb junk food, try healthy snacks from the basic food groups," she says. "A small bowl of cereal with 1% or nonfat milk, sliced kiwifruit, carrots with Ranch dip, peanut butter on celery or a slice of whole grain bread, one string cheese with a sliced apple or cheese and whole grain crackers."
Her suggestions sound yummy (who doesn't love string cheese?) and will curb those after-school hunger pangs. Perfect!
