Expert Advice: Don't Ditch the Dairy!
We chatted with wellness coach Jackie Keller yesterday and she reminded us of the importance of eating calcium-rich foods during your teen years.
“The emphasis on skeletal integrity can’t be minimized,” she tells us. Your bone mass peaks in your late teens or twenties, so you’ve gotta stock up now.
Sure, you’ve heard “drink milk” about a million times, but it’s totally true. Not a fan of moo juice? Jackie says to incorporate cheese (low-fat hard cheeses, cottage cheese and string cheese are all fab picks!) and yogurts in your diet. Remember to steer clear of yogurt that contains unhealthy high-fructose corn syrup. Plain varieties with plenty of cut-up fruit are super-yummy.
