Treat yourself with this deliciously decadent recipe
Looking for the *tastiest* sweet treat to take to your BFF's bithday party? Or just want something yummy to nosh on after dinner while you finish your homework? This recipe perfect for both (and it makes a great gift if you package it in a super cute tin!). Whatever the occasion is, this saltine toffee is seriously a game-changer.
Ingredients:
- One sleeve of salted Saltine crackers (about 35-40 crackers)
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup light light brown sugar
- 6 tbsps creamy peanut butter
- 2 and ½ cups semi-sweet, milk, or white chocolate chips
- 1 cup M&Ms
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Then spray a half-sheet pan with cooking spray. Line the saltine crackers on the tray so they lay perfectly flat and set aside.
2. Stirring lightly, bring your butter and brown sugar to a boil in a large saucepan over medium heat. When you see that it’s begun to boil, leave it stand for three minutes without stirring. After the three minutes is up, you will carefully (so as not to burn yourself) pour the mixture evenly over the crackers. Bake this for five minutes.
3. While your toffee is baking, melt your peanut butter in the microwave. Remove your toffee from the oven and pour your peanut butter on top.
4. Then immediately sprinkle your chocolate chips on top, and put it back in the oven for one minute so that the chocolate chips will melt. Remove from the oven again and sprinkle on your M&Ms.
5. Your toffee will need to be refrigerated for two hours, after which you can break it up into pieces.
