To-die-for dark chocolate mousse

When you’re celebrating something special—or worry about wowing people—a delicious dessert you can make easily is a lifesaver. That’s why we’re digging this cinchy chocolate mousse recipe. It takes a little over two hours to make, but that includes ample time to let this baby set up in the fridge. Personalize it with pretty serving bowls or glasses (like the heart-shaped one in the picture, above) and top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings or sprinkles. Yum!

Ingredients:

Serves 4

2 egg yolks

1/8 cup sugar

½ cup heavy cream (whipping cream)

¼ cup semisweet chocolate chips

¼ cup bittersweet chocolate chips

Directions:

1. Beat egg yolks in a small bowl using an electric mixer on high speed—about 3 minutes, or until thick. Gradually beat in the sugar.

2. In a saucepan over medium heat, heat the heavy cream until hot but not boiling. Gradually stir about half of the cream into the egg yolk mixture, then pour the egg yolk mixture and cream back into the saucepan.

3. Cook over low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens. Do not let it boil! Stir in the chocolate chips until just melted, then remove pan from heat.

4. Pour the mixture into the dishes you will serve your mousse in, cover and refrigerate for about 2 hours. Serve when set.
