DIY a cute collar necklace
Loving the collar craze recently? Tatiana over at the blog
Fashion Forward is dishing the how-to so you
can create your own!
“Peter pan collars have been taking over runways this spring and I have been crazy about the trend,” says Tatiana. Add a touch of sweet ‘n’ sparkle to your everyday look with this perfectly cinchy Peter pan collar necklace craft.
Here’s what you’ll need:
-A 12-inch square of fabric in the color of your choice (Tatiana chose a heavier canvas in off-white)
-Scissors
-Hot glue gun and glue sticks
-Various beads or sequins (Tatiana used old broken necklaces)
-36 inches of ribbon in the color of your choice
Here’s what you’ll do:
1. Lay
out your chosen fabric and fold in half. Draw out the shape of your
collar. Try an augmented semicircle first, then you can trim it to the
shape you prefer.
2. Cut
out the collar from the folded fabric. Make sure you end up with two
sides! Hot glue the connecting ends of the collar together so they just
barely overlap.
3. Use
the ribbon to create a hem along the top of the collar. Fold half of the
ribbon over the edge of the fabric and hot glue in place on both sides.
4. Decorate
the collar as desired by hot gluing beads and sequins in a pretty pattern!
The finished look:
