As you’ve probably noticed, the weather’s getting colder, the leaves are changing colors, and the PSL is back in stock at Starbucks. In other words: Fall is in full swing, and we couldn’t be more excited. After all, this season has the *coziest* aesthetic—one you can reflect in your perfectly-crafted Insta feed. We’ve gathered all the inspo you need to get the perfect shot, from the best props to the most creative poses. Plus, some of our fave editing tutorials to, ahem, pumpkin spice up your feed.

Set the scene

If there’s one thing that can make or break your photoshoot, it’s location. Some spots naturally lend themselves to the spirit of the season—think of taking a trip to your local pumpkin patch, or putting together a leaf pile at your local park. Other autumnal hangouts include coffee shops, woods/forests and indie bookstores. Or, try creating your own setup by draping a sheet against a wall and stringing up some fairy lights. Bonus points if you can find a way to incorporate orange, brown, and yellow shades into the scene.

Dress warm

It's called sweater weather for a reason. And there are *so* many cute ways to wear an oversized sweater. Pair yours with a pleated skirt for a preppy look, or stick with your fave pair of jeans for comfy-meets-cute. If temps are especially low where you live, feel free to throw on a scarf and beanie. Finally, decide which shoes best tie the whole ensemble together (and when it’s time to do makeup, check out these gorge looks!)

Strike a pose

Don’t fall back on the poses that already fill your feed. Try something new by replicating one of the fun poses below. Props help avoid awkward hands and give more motion to your pics, while unconventional angles make them all the more eye-catching.

Add an edit

The final ingredient to shake up your feed this fall is editing. Instagram recently dropped a bunch of new features for adding text and graphics to your stories. Play around until you find something you love, or use one of the tutorials below for inspiration. When you’re ready to post, you can put a Fall-themed pun in your caption—along with *all* the leaf emojis.
