To mark the occasion, GL is throwin’ a little masquerade ball, complete with these fabulous DIY masks.

What you’ll need:

Plastic masks (Find ‘em at the dollar store, party supplies store or a crafts store)

Decorations (Think sequins, ribbon, rhinestones, feathers, yarn, glitter glue etc.)

Elastic or pretty ribbon

Hot glue gun and lots of extra glue

Newspaper

Optional: Spray paint (if ya wanna change the color of the mask), single hole punch

What you’ll do:

If you want to spray paint your mask, take it outside and follow the directions on the can. Spray it over newspaper and let it dry completely.

First thing’s first: If your mask doesn’t have any holes for a headband, make them with a single hole punch. Now you need to measure out your elastic. Wrap it around the back of your head from temple to temple, then subtract about two inches from that length to make sure your mask will be secure. Attach to your mask and hot glue the knots to make sure they stay put.

Using ribbon? Simply cut two lengths, leaving enough room to wrap around the back of your head and tie a bow, then attach to your mask.

Ready to decorate? Spread newspaper over your work surface to keep things neat. Lay out all of your decorating choices and start with the base and work in layers. Wanna cover your mask with sequins? Hot glue those on first. You can add a ribbon border or rhinestones around the eyes. Add feathers on the side, as shown in the picture above, or all over to give you a bird or butterfly effect. Go crazy, girl!
