Bummed about being in the friendzone? Here are 10 reasons why you shouldn't be!
Oh the dreaded friend zone… We’ve all been there at least once and know that it can leave you feeling pretty down. But hey, there are tons of reasons why being friendzoned really isn’t so terrible. Ready to stop sulking and get out from under the covers you’ve been hiding out in for days? It’s time to take control of the situation!
1. You have your own personal wingman
OK, so maybe this relationship won’t work out, but who’s to say that he doesn’t have a ton of cute guy friends who are dying to get on your radar? Take advantage of the fact that he probably has a lot in common with his buds and you might just find that he’s your most valuable matchmaker!
2. Free relationship advice from someone you trust
Although right now you might be thinking that you’ll never find love, remember that crushes can fade and you are bound to get over him! When you finally move on and find someone even better, you’ll have someone whose opinion you respect and trust to help you through the dating process.
3. It allows you to get to know the guy better
Having great friends is just as, if not more, important than having a boyfriend. You’ll always have someone to laugh with, a shoulder to cry on and the security of knowing that there’s someone who will stand by you no matter what. Moreover, your bae should be your BFF, not just your BF! Maybe giving your friendship some time to grow will lead to something more serious. But obviously, if it’s too hard to be around him and you feel like cutting off the friendship would cause you less pain in the long run, then by all means, do what you think is best for you.
4. You’ll be way less stressed
Trying to impress someone all the time isn’t easy! If you know that he isn’t interested, you can relax and spend less time worrying about every little thing you’re saying or doing around him.
5. More opportunities to meet new guys
You’ve spent enough time obsessing over this guy, time to go see what else is out there! There are hundreds of adorable, sweet, caring boys who you’ve yet to meet and one of them is bound to be the one!
6. You'll learn to be more sensitive when you’re the one doing the rejecting
We can’t deny that being in the friend zone can be a major disappointment, but now that you know how it feels, you will be better equipped to handle turning someone down in the future.
7. Your standards for potential baes will improve
There’s clearly a reason (let’s be real, probably more than just one) why you’re attracted to him, so now you know what qualities to look for in other guys
8. Access to an honest male perspective
You can ask him whatever you want, without him feeling pressured to give you the answer that you’re wanting to hear.
9. You get some good practice opening up to someone
Being vulnerable and allowing someone to see all of your rawest emotions is scary, but the more you do it, the easier it gets! While at first, you may regret opening up to someone who doesn’t share the same feelings, he will respect you for being truthful and it might just help to strengthen your friendship or future romantic connection.
10. And finally...there’s always the chance that things could change
Just because he doesn’t want to date now, doesn’t mean he’ll never want to. Try not to get your hopes up too much, but it’s okay to think yourself that he might come around and decide to take a shot at the whole relationship thing!
