Surrounded by boys

Every other weekend, I go to my dad’s apartment with my brother. Sometimes my two other older brothers come over, too.
Recently, we were all watching TV when a commercial with this woman came on. My dad and brothers were hooting and saying stuff that made me really mad. I almost called my mother to pick me up.

 
Dear Surrounded by Boys,


Since it’s worth it to get along with the males in your family, I hope you can get them to act more appropriately, but I also hope you can learn to handle their juvenile banter with humor and grace. Consider saying, “Hey guys, keep it clean,” or “This is a living room not a locker room,” or “There’s a lady present.” Even saying “Grow up,” or “You’re making me uncomfortable” beats leaving in a huff. Ideally they’ll rein themselves in, and you will continue to enjoy family time.
