Read Touch BlueYour Wish Might Come True

What if your island home’s only school house was being threatened to be shut down because of the lack of students? Jobs would be lost, and families would be forced to move to the mainland.

But, these Maine islanders in Touch Blue by Cynthia Lord (author of Rules) have come up with a plan—one hat helps them and the greater good by taking in foster children to up the school’s attendance.
The story ultimately follows 11-year-old Tess and her family. There are her mom and dad, adorable 5-year-old sis Libby and Aaron, a 13-year-old with a love for playing trumpet, whom Tess’ fam has chosen to take in.

Aaron is looked at as the bad boy (he lived in four different homes) and doesn’t care for joining Tess’s family or saving her beloved island home.
After what seems like forever, though, Aaron finally becomes a bit nicer, yet still has his attitude, and shows it. Will Aaron ever get accustomed to living with Tess and her family in their island home, or do you think he’ll just get moved again? Will the school be shut down, or will the islanders plan have worked by the time the school year starts? As the saying goes, “Touch blue and your wish will come true.”

Touch Blue is a great novel about new beginnings, family and friendship. Plus, readers will learn tons of cool facts about the ocean, islands and boats! (Psst, did you know that an island is the top of an underwater mountain? Too cool!)

Inspired by a true story, be sure to pick up your own copy of Touch Blue by Cynthia Lord (in stores now) and let us know your thoughts.

Would you ever live on an island? Blog about it, babes.
