The Fabled Fifth Graders of Aesop Elementary School

Join the wacky class of twenty yet again in The Fabled Fifth Graders of Aesop Elementary School by Candace Fleming.

The latest installment follows Mr. Jupiter’s matchless class as they live through another batch of crazy and hilarious experiences—all that wrap up with a moral. These stories are so strange, you wonder what exactly the moral is, but once you find out, it makes tonsa sense!

What do we love most about the book’s characters? They all have names that fit themselves perfectly. Missy Place loses everything, Hamilton “Ham” Samitch is always hungry, Humphrey Parrot repeats whatever his classmates say and Victoria Sovaine is very vain. But we heart them even more for their wild imaginations (what other batch of students would request a unicorn, pink-headed duck or giant squid as their class pet?).

Their first, second and third grade teachers have all hated this kooky class, but Mr. Jupiter is different, liking them so much he’s agreed to put up with them for two years in a row.

Info on strange teachers, pet rocks, anecdotes from history and funny test responses like, “What do ducks do in the fall when food is scarce?” “Go to the store and say ‘put it on my bill!’” fill the pages of this hilarious read, making you forget you’re even learning anything!

Be sure to pick up The Fabled Fifth Graders of Aesop Elementary School (on shelves now) and let us know your thoughts.

If you could have a crazy class pet, what would you pick? Blog about it, babes.
