With the premiere of Greta Gerwig's Barbie fast approaching (um, we literally *cannot* wait), we have all the essentials you need to prepare for the movie event of the summer. Get ready to dive headfirst into the Barbie-pink aesthetic that's taking on the big screen. 

What to wear to the movie theater

Dressing up for the cinema might feel silly, but the Barbie movie is all about bold looks and embracing your inner girly girl. Go all out on the perfect outfit with tons of Barbie's signature pink (bubblegum, hot pink and baby pink are all acceptable hues). Whether you're planning to deck yourself out in the Barbiecore aesthetic or simply incorporate a bit of pink into your outfit (might we recommend a pink ribbon or cute bandana?), donning your best doll-inspired fit is v. necessary for your trip to the theater.

Plan a Barbie after-party

Why not throw a Barbie-themed after-party to follow the movie? Deck out your space with tons of pink decorations, from streamers to balloons, to really get into the Barbiecore mood. For snacks, try your hand at a pink dessert platter (think: frosted cupcakes, pink macaroons and pink Starburst candies)—or go all-out with a pink brunch-at-midnight spread (make heart-shaped pancakes with a hint of red food dye). And to drink, what's better than pink lemonade? (Try this recipe for old-fashioned pink lemonade!)

Queue up the perfect playlist

The tunes for the night? Nothing fits the vibe like the Barbie soundtrack. Produced by Mark Ronson, the movie's official soundtrack has a hot mix of artists ranging from Ice Spice to HAIM.
