3 song lyrics that *perfectly* sum up what it feels like to have a crush
I've stanned Abigail Fierce since her breakout 2020 single "Pitch Dark". As a pop-rock girlie, I've always found her empowering messages about owning who you love to be much needed. She's always writing and recording songs that just feel like falling headfirst into an all-consuming crush.
Needless to say, I was totally stoked when Girls' Life gave me a sneak preview of Abigail's newest track "Daphne" (stream it here!). It has all the elements of her one-of-a-kind sound: fun 'n' flirty lyrics, v. relatable vulnerability and, yes, a plot twist I did *not* see coming.
Scroll my picks for this song's Fierce-est lyrics and don't be surprised if you find yourself jotting them in your diary...
1. "She makes sense like snow in the desert"
Isn't half the fun of a new flirtationship the ~mystery~? (Abigail seems to think so.) She kicks off the song expressing how she still can't seem to understand her new leading lady. But as the couple takes an (imaginary) stroll through the streets of Seattle, it's pretty obvious there's mutual attraction in the air...and a potential pair in the making.
2. "You pull me in, I'm inches from your lips / But I always wake up before we kiss"
If you've ever daydreamed about what it would be like to share a first kiss with your crush, you'll appreciate Abigail's sweet and shy attitude in the second verse. She wants to make a move on her new bae, but fate (or maybe just her alarm clock) has other plans. All this pining just adds to the adorableness.
3. "If only I knew her real name"
OK, so Daphne isn't the name of Abigail's love interest...but who *doesn't* give their crush a top-secret nickname? What we do know is that this cute new barista basically memorized Abigail's order (chai with oat milk, natch) and seems to be crushing just as hard on her cute new customer. Can I get a sequel to this song, ASAP?
