I Am Not Okay with This is Netflix's most recent stroke of genius that focuses on the one thing we all know about...being teenagers! The only difference between the show and real life? Most of us don't have mind-blowing superpowers that destroy things when we're mad (sigh—we wish). If you haven't fallen down the binge-watching rabbit hole yet, or you aren't sure if this is the show for you, then read on to find out more!

This show revolves around three main characters: Sydney Novak (played by Sophia Lillis), Stanley Barber (Wyatt Oleff) and Dina (Sophia Bryant). Each of these angsty teens is dealing with some normal and paranormal life issues that you may (or may not) relate to. Sydney is your average 17-year-old girl with telekinesis. Yes, you read that correctly. However, besides having this wacky power she also deals with grief, exploring her sexuality and depression all while navigating high school. 

Stanley Barber is "so uncool that he's cool," which is a description he receives due to being a non-binary loner with a totally unique fashion sense. Stanley's personal life, however, is nowhere near fabulous as he may be experiencing violence at home. He takes pride in helping Sydney get used to her newfound superpowers (which leads to a messy bowling alley incident). 

Dina is Sydney's ultra-stylish bestie (with a bf) who Syd just so happens to develop a crush on. Dina is usually there for Syd even when she doesn't want her to be, but that's what friends are for right?

Overall, this show is about the good, bad and down-right confusing life that some teens (especially ones who can make objects explode with their mind) experience. If you like hedgehogs, drama and tons of moments to put you in your feels then this might just be the show for you.
