Weekend jams: 5 brand-new songs to add to your playlist

Your weekend to-do list:
1. Open Spotify/Apple Music/YouTube.
2. Listen to these just-released songs.
3. Party on.

From a new PrettyMuch track to an anthem from the survivors of the Parkland school shooting last month, this bunch of fresh tracks is everything.

Healthy by PRETTYMUCH

PRETTYMUCH is never not releasing fire tracks. "Healthy," the followup to last week's release of "10,000 Hours" video, is no exception. We love.

SHINE by Sawyer Garrity & Andrea Peña (ft. Stoneman Douglas Drama)

Grab the tissues, girls. This song is written by Sawyer and Andrea, two student survivors of the tragic mass shooting at Parkland Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, with contributions from members of the school drama department.

The powerful song has emerged as an anthem of the student-led movement to end gun violence, written just days after the Feb. 14 tragedy that claimed 17 lives and wounded many others.

The song is available now on iTunes and streaming services in the U.S. Proceeds will be donated to the SHINE MSD Fund at the Broward Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports victims and their families via community mental health and arts programs.

Everybody Hates Me by The Chainsmokers

Time to get broody. This new song from everyone's favorite "Closer" singers has a downcast vibe, and focuses on the ironic and somewhat contradictory aspects of being famous, like feeling lonely and self-critical despite hordes of adoring fans.

Over My Head by Echosmith

This tune is the first release since the multi-platinum alt-pop sibling trio returned to the studio late last year. The new song showcases the band’s most evolved sound, which is a synth-driven chorus and bold drum beats with all-too relatable lyrics. This is the first taste of their new album which will be released this summer.

Alien by Sabrina Carpenter and Jonas Blue

Yassss, Sabrina—we love an EDM collab! Fun fact: this song came to fruition after Sab tweeted Jonas Blue how much she loved one of his songs! The track is about how alienating it can feel to be trapped in your own emotions. Lyrically, it’s really inspired by the words we keep in our heads when a relationship is unclear.
