These are the boldest moments from the MTV Movie and TV Awards

This year's MTV Movie and TV Awards was definitely one for the books!

Along with the incredible artists who received recognition for their talents and performances, something particularly special took place which made this event even more memorable: In a barrier-breaking move, for the first time in the history of MTV Movie and TV Awards (and its former title, MTV Movie Awards), gendered categories were tossed aside in favor of neutral acting categories!

Why is this important? It's yet another step toward making our world more inclusive and gives nonbinary creatives the opportunity to be recognized for their contributions to film and TV. Here, we're spilling our favorite moments from last night's awards!

1. A real life princess, indeed
Emma Watson won best actor in a movie for Beauty and the Beast and, unsurprisingly (because she is an amazing person), gave a beautiful acceptance speech. "The first acting award in history that doesn't separate nominees by sex says something about how we perceive the human experience. Acting is about the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes and that doesn't need to be separated into two different categories. Empathy and the ability to use your imagination should have no limits." Even cooler? The award was presented by Asia Kate Dillon, an actor who identifies as nonbinary (meaning they do not identify with either gender).

2. Talent has no age limit
At just 13 years old, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown won best actor for her performance as Eleven in the popular Netflix show. Overwhelmed with joy, Millie gave an emotional acceptance speech that had us all crying right there with her!

3. The Fast and the Furious gang is back
Marking the first time at the show, a film franchise was honored instead of an individual actor. Vin Diesel accepted the Generation Award on behalf of the motion-picture franchise The Fast and the Furious while he was joined on stage by his co-stars who he calls family.

4. Fierce flames during "Hey Ma"
Camila Cabello, Pitbull and J Balvin created fire during their performance of their hit single, “Hey Ma,” in honor of The Fast and the Furious receiving the generation award. We could *not* stop dancing!

5. Beauty queen Z
Zendaya graced the red carpet in a beautiful green dress and looked beyond gorg. This style is more romantic and delicate than we're used to seeing her in, and we loved the change of pace!

6. Celebs have celeb crushes too!
Millie really had our attention last night! She got to check a celebrity off of her "To meet" list when she chatted with Emma. These two are absolutely adorable, and we are so happy their encounter was captured.
