Must List

Grab A Firm Handshake's Fix Me Up album and help kick cancer's butt while you're at it--seriously!

We love listening to new music, especially when it’s for a good cause. Zach Sobiech, 17, loved creating music with his band, A Firm Handshake. And after being diagnosed with a rare and devastating form of cancer, he knew he wanted to leave a legacy through his music. So, he and his band mates made a record titled Fix Me Up inspired by many of his hardships. Zach passed away on May 20, 2013, but his legacy lives on through his tunes.

Not only did his fans help make A Firm Handshake’s first single “Clouds” go viral and shoot to #1 on the iTunes, Spotify and Billboard charts, Fix Me Up just became available for the first time physically as a deluxe edition via Rock The Cause Records.

Why are we loving this two-disc CD/DVD set? For starters, a portion of the proceeds (including 100% of proceeds from “Clouds”) will benefit the Zach Sobiech Osteorcarcoma Fund at the Children's Cancer Research Fund. Then there’s the fact that it’s loaded with amazing tunes. The deluxe edition includes A Firm Handshake’s original EP, along with an acoustic version of “Clouds,” the new holiday classic “Clouds (Largest Clouds Choir Holiday Version)” and an awesome new song from band mate Sammy Brown titled “How to Go to Confession.”

And if all of that doesn’t convince you enough to pick up a copy, check out our faves (and why we heart ’em) below.

“Star Hopping”

Listen to this song if you want to relax after a long day of school.

“Clouds”

The uplifting single that gives you encouragement when you need it most.

“Fix Me Up (Radio Edit)”

This song has one of the best messages that can be hard to remember: Never give up on others!

“How to Go to Confession”

In our opinion, it’s the prettiest off the album. We could seriously listen to it all day long.

“Sandcastles”

It’s all about having your own safe place in a world where no one gets hurt. Great for a long relaxing car ride.

“Coffee Cup”

A super chill tune that’s a little sad—but in a good way!

Zach’s story is truly inspiring and uplifting, so we encourage you to help his legacy live on by picking up or downloading your own copy of Fix Me Up. It’s currently available at select Walmart, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble and independent record stores nationwide and on iTunes, Amazon and other online music stores.
