Our latest TV obsession? Instant Mom
Party girl-turned-soccer mom Stephanie (Tia Mowry-Hardrict) must learn to be a
mother after marrying cardiologist Charlie (Michael Boatman) and subsequently
taking responsibility for his three kids. Stephanie has a lot to learn as she
has trouble jumping from carefree young adult to responsible stepmom. She must
discover the fine line between friend and parent, including when sharing
clothes with your teenage stepdaughter crosses the line and how to get a kid to
take their medicine.
Stephanie isn't completely alone while her husband is being a busy doctor,
however. Her mom Maggie (Cheryl Lee Ralph) is ready and waiting to step in and
help—sometimes a bit too much. Together, they work to raise the kids and
instill valuable lessons in them as they're quickly growing up.
Charlie's children are also learning how to live and treat their new
stepmother. Fifteen-year-old Gabby (Sydney Park) is a mature teen seeking
independence while 11-year-old troublemaker James (Tylen Williams) and
seven-year-old baby of the fam Aaron (Damarr Calhoun) round out the house.
Together, the kids often work to undermine Stephanie's authority by pulling
stunts like sneaking out of the house. We can’t wait to see whatever pranks
they have in store!
Instant Mom follows Stephanie's often comical and misguided, yet nonetheless heartfelt efforts to transform herself into the perfect mom and role model for Gabby, James and Aaron. It’s definitely one you won’t mind watching with the entire fam, so be sure to tune in to the series premiere Sunday, Sept. 29 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on Nick at Nite.
