EXCLUSIVE! Juju and Mila Brener are totally sister (and bestie) goals

Summer has been totally "buzzin" for Juju and Mila Brener, the dynamic sister duo with some definitely dynamic talent. (Dancing, acting, singing and did we mention directing? Yup.) And speaking of "buzzin," these sisters are gearing up for Juju's summer single "Buzzin," the latest addition to our sunny szn playlist. The MV was also directed by Mila—total big sis goals!

Juju and Mila had their debut in acting, with Juju premiering in the iconic film Hocus Pocus 2 and sis Mila in NCIS. From there, their careers soared into singing and dance vids—and even a partnership with YMI Jeans for a brand new line.

We sat down to talk with the gals about the inspo behind "Buzzin," all things acting and the scoop on some sisterly bonding...

Girls' Life: Tell us about the production and inspo behind the "Buzzin" music video.

Mila Brener: We wanted to have this very upbeat, poppy summer vibe. I co-directed the music video with Antonio Chavez Trejo. We sat down and made a bulleted list of what we wanted to hit—the locations, the wardrobe and the emotions we wanted from Juju and the other dancers. We also wanted to use L.A. to our advantage—we hit a lot of landmarks in the video. That's a big part of Juju and I's life, because we were born and raised here.

Juju Brener: The song gives off summer vibes. It was fun to make a song that was summery...because that's what I like. It's my favorite season. It was also good to have my closest friends experience the music video with me.

GL: What was it like to work together on set?

Mila: Technically, we've been working together our entire lives! Not just my sister and I, but my entire family—we all work together as a team. We're always helping each other with work, school, social stuff and everything. We're very close. We really love working together. It felt like we were making something, but at the same time, it felt like we were at one big hangout!

Juju: I wasn't scared since Mila was my director. If I didn't like something she said, I could say that! I'm happy I got to do that, because you can't on other sets.

GL: Speaking of sisters, you played sisters in your recent film, Guns & Moses. Can you tell us about the roles you played?

Juju: My character's name is Dini Zaltzman. That role was really fun to play because she's a young Jewish girl, and so am I...so it was cool to do that. She's very sensitive but really nice. She loves her dad—her dad is her world.

Mila: I played Esti Zaltzman, her sister. We're part of the Zaltzman family, the leading family in the movie. Not only did me and Juju play sisters, we also played Orthodox Jews, and we're both fully Jewish. We've never played Jews either. My character is seen as the brains of the family. She's super tech-savvy.

GL: What's your fave project you've worked on?

Juju: Mine was definitely Hocus Pocus [2]. I met really great people who are my close friends now, and it was a good set to work on. I got to meet the original witches! We actually visited Salem since it was only a two-hour drive from where we were. And Salem is obviously where the Hocus Pocus and witch stuff happens.

Mila: I don't have an actual favorite—there's always one special thing about each project that I work on that makes it my favorite! All of them have led me to where I am now. Honestly, when we worked on Guns & Moses, that was probably one of my favorite sets to be on. The entire vibe was so good and everyone was so close. Sometimes it didn't even feel like working, it felt like hanging out with my friends and having fun!

GL: What's the best part of working together?

Mila: Because we're so close and so comfortable with each other, working with each other doesn't feel like working. It feels like we're continuing to hang out as siblings while working on a project. I feel like it makes us get along better. If you have a younger sister, you get it! There definitely is that sister banter that goes on sometimes. But I'm very grateful to have Juju as a sister because we both help each other so much with everything. We're always there for each other.

GL: Do you have a fave way to bond or hang out?

Juju: She can drive now!

Mila: I'm literally her Uber driver.

Juju: I like going out together to eat. I love when she drives me to a friend's house, when we're in the car together driving for an hour and listening to music. I also like when we go on vacation because we get to hang out more.

GL: Any other exciting duo projects or events on the horizon?

Juju: We do interviews together all the time! Sometime soon, the next time I make another single or a song, she [Mila] will obviously be participating in that and will probably be the director again.

Mila: We're focused on promoting the "Buzzin" music video, releasing on Friday, so we're gearing up for that! We just attended a film festival called Dances With Films that "Buzzin" officially got selected into. When it gets released, we're going to be promoting it and teasing it so people will be able to watch, and hopefully like it!
