1989 (Taylor's Version) has an official release date (!!!)
Welcome to the morning after the final show of the first leg of The Eras Tour, or more fittingly, welcome to New York!
At last night's concert, Taylor Swift officially announced 1989 (Taylor's Version), which will be released on October 27.
Taylor mentions in the caption that 1989 (Taylor's Version) is her fave re-recording. It's an album that both launched *and* cemented Taylor Swift as the pop star of a generation. That's not an easy thing to do, but it speaks to how incredible this collection of songs is. 1989 (Taylor's Version) will also include five vault tracks that have never been heard before. But rest assured, Taylor promises them to be "so insane." October just can't come soon enough.
If you were keeping up with @taylornation on Instagram (or any concert-goers on socials), you probably noticed that the excitement at the concert really picked up with a slew of new, blue outfits that culminated in Taylor's reveal during the surprise song portion of the show. Fans had been speculating for a while that Taylor would have this kind of announcement in store because of the date of the show—8/9. It's well-known by now that Taylor Swift is a "Mastermind," but last night "all the stars aligned" (as Taylor herself once said).
On the album cover, we can see a beautifully beaming Taylor with wind in her hair and seagulls at her back. It may be one of the most ethereal and joyful covers Taylor has ever given us, and it couldn't be more perfectly paired with a record than with 1989 (Taylor's Version). This is the album of flawlessly bubbly pop production and timeless lyrics about growth, youth and rebirth.
"Iconic" is a word you hear a lot loosely thrown around, but this album is most well-deserving of that designation. Now, we get to experience it all over again.
