Olivia Rodrigo's new song "deja vu" is an absolute dream
Olivia Rodrigo has done it again. Our fave teen artist/pop star/driver's license holder just released her second single titled "deja vu," and we're already *totally* obsessed.
ICYMI, here's a quick recap on the Olivia Rodrigo tea: Olivia's breakup anthem "drivers license" was heavily speculated to be about the love triangle between Olivia, her HSMTMTS co-star Joshua Bassett and Sabrina Carpenter—"And you're probably with that blonde girl / Who always made me doubt." This was further suggested after Sabrina released "Skin," her latest single—"Maybe you didn't mean it/ Maybe blonde was the only rhyme."

Continuing on the theme of love triangles, "deja vu" explores the situation with a twist. Instead of focusing on her ex-love, Olivia shifts her attention to the new love interest, all while serving gorgeous visuals through trippy scenes of her and another brunette girl (played by Talia Ryder) swapping places and outfits along with vivid lyrics referencing Billy Joel and Glee.
The music video for "deja vu" opens with Olivia cruising through Malibu, rocking a headscarf and retro glasses while downing some strawberry ice cream. If this was part of the "Please Don't Go" challenge on TikTok, she would definitely crush it.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, she says: “I’m really obsessed with the concept of deja vu and I think it’s such a cool, psychedelic, awesome thing." True to her word, "deja vu" (the song) is cool, psychedelic and a certified awesome thing.
We def will be listening to this song 24/7, pretending that we're driving down the California coastline while contemplating old loves.
Bonus—did you catch this? We all know Olivia's a huge Swiftie, and her music is often inspired by Taylor's iconic style. In this song, Olivia shouts, "I know you get deja vu,” in a way that's so reminiscent of "Cruel Summer" (“I love you, ain't that the worst thing you ever heard?”).
From one queen to another, Olivia has lifetimes of talent in her 18-year-old body, and we just *can't* wait for what she puts out in the future.
