Say welcome back to Joey King, who is about to hit our screens with another book adaptation
To The Kissing Booth fans: get ready for a little more Joey King (Elle!) on your screen. Joey is picking up an executive producer and lead role in the upcoming adaptation of the massively popular YA book series Uglies.
The film, which is set to be directed by McG and distributed by Netflix, is based on the 2005 book by Scott Westerfeld, who will also executive produce in tandem with Joey and Jamie King.
The story centers around teen Tally Youngblood, who struggles to navigate a world defined by societal expectations surrounding beauty. Every single person is considered an "ugly" until they receive cosmetic surgery at 16 to be transformed into a "Pretty." But what happens when Tally meets the defiant Shay and wants to defy the odds to fight against the societal norm?

TBH, we couldn't be more excited to see Joey in a rebel role, and the plot of Uglies will seriously make us rethink how we imagine beauty. Plus, there are four books in the series (and three spinoffs with the last coming next year), so there is an opportunity to see a lot more of her and this amaze book series on-screen in the future.
Joey King will star in and exec. produce McG's new Netflix film UGLIES.
