These influencers are receiving *major* backlash for refusing to follow social distancing
Larri "Larray" Merritt, TikTok star and member of the Hype House, had a surprise 22nd birthday party with a *huge* guest list. Seemingly every influencer and friend group you know and love attended: Emma Chamberlain, Tana Mongeau, Nikita Dragun, James Charles, Erika Costell, Charli and Dixie D'Amelio, members of the Hype House, etc. Despite the global pandemic, and the fact that California is a COVID hotspot, hundreds decided to attend the party maskless.

Social distancing was clearly not a priority to the party guests, and other content creators have been quick to call their behavior out. On Twitter, Tyler Oakley directly tagged influencers he saw partying and explained how they should be using their platforms "to encourage responsibility during a worldwide pandemic," rather than blatantly ignore health risks.
hi @jamescharles @NikitaDragun @tanamongeau @larrayxo @charlidamelio @dixiedamelio & any others who have been partying in large groups - please consider social distancing, mask wearing, & using your huge platforms to encourage responsibility during a worldwide pandemic. https://t.co/G3CeWfk3uZ

Elijah Daniel expressed his concern for influencer parties on Twitter as well. He confirmed that influencers are testing positive for COVID-19 and creating an outbreak in California.
warning: a lot of influencers have been confirmed to me testing positive for COVID-19 after the influencer parties, like a LOT. And they aren’t saying anything & aren’t warning people they came in contact with after.

If you attended, get tested. yall caused an outbreak. thanks!
Holding these influencers accountable for their actions is necessary to stop the spread of COVID. Many fans have been just as angry and vocal as content creators, and are tweeting their concerns to influencers.
“Don’t feel bad” about portentously spreading a virus during a global pandemic where our government is incompetent to protect us. They should all feel bad. I didn’t go out and part on my birthday in May because I knew the risks and saw the need to stay home.

i’m glad you’re taking responsibility but i hope you realize how stupid it is to throw a party with more than 50+ in the middle of a pandemic where not a single person was wearing a mask. ily but it’s so disappointing seeing this when i’ve lost people to covid
