2018's It Girl: Keep an eye out for Madison McWilliams

Every once in a while an artist comes along that has such off-the-charts talent and songs so catchy that you can't help but smile when you listen to their music—this year that artist is Madison McWilliams

Last year, the 16-year-old singer released her Madison EP, was named an emerging artist by Musical.ly, gave us fab music videos (we still heart her "We've Got Today" vid!), performed at South by South West music festival and *more.* The Texas girl also put in work as a Make-A-Wish ambassador, performing at the annual World Wish Day.

With such a crazy 2017, we can't help but wonder: What could 2018 possibly hold for Madison? Well, we chatted with the rising star to find out!

Girls' Life: First off, happy 2018! How did you spend New Year's?
Madison McWilliams:
I celebrated New Years with my family. It’s fun to be together, but some of us are sleeping with our eyes open! We got tired *super* quickly.

GL: Did you make any personal New Year's resolutions?
MM:
Well, when I make New Year's resolutions, I usually break them the next day. Oops! I think sticking to something and making a change is important, but I really prefer trying new things and setting goals year round.

GL: You had such a busy 2017! What are your top three moments of the year?
MM: Professionally, I loved singing the national anthem at NASCAR, being named one of musical.ly’s top emerging artists in April and dropping my video "Melodramatic" on VEVO!  Personally, regarding my charity work, performing for Make-A-Wish World Wish Day and all of the incredibly meaningful opportunities I had to support those brave boys and girls was hands down my favorite thing I got to do last year.

GL: That's amazing. What are your plans for 2018? It'll be tough to top all the cool things you did last year!
MM:
I’m going to release new music, share my new sound with you guys and perform for Make-A-Wish’s 22nd annual Wish Night. I also have some big things coming this year that I’m not able to share yet, but I can’t wait to tell you guys!

GL:  We can't wait to hear about them! In your wildest dreams, what do you hope happens this year?
MM:
Simple: I hope that I get to see all my fans on tour!

GL: How do you hope your work can inspire others?
MM:
My message is girl power, and I hope I inspire people to be the best versions of themselves. Most importantly, I also really hope I can set the example that hard work and dedication are what make dreams come true.

With Madison's hard work and dedication, we can tell that she's only just getting started.
