Project Runway: The MK Challenge
It’s down to the lucky seven. As more and more rooms become vacant, who’s next to take the hike home? Did you tune in to find out?
Heidi met designers at her usual spot on the runway. Tim would be taking them on a trip down to Rodeo Drive to meet a world-known designer. With all the hoity-toity shops on the street, contestants knew their looks for this challenge had to be high-end. But to our surprise, whom did they meet? Michael Kors, of course. Lam-O. I was a little disappointed to find out that the illustrious designer was MK. I mean, we’ve seen his familiar face week after week for how many seasons now?!
The MK Challenge: Designers must choose from a variety of locations hand picked by Michael Kors to draw inspiration for their garment. Some places included Palm Beach, Greece and Sante Fe.
With 150 buckaroos in their pocket and only one day to work their magic, it’s off to Mood. Logan took the “run around until fabric jumps out at him” approach, while Irina pinched pennies for her costly outerwear fabrics.
Not-so-tiny Tim stops by to offer his words of wisdom. He was a little worried that Jordana was spending too much time on her necklace and suggested she speed up the process. His walk by Christopher’s workspace gave us a glimpse of his “Amish” number. Eek! And for the rest of the gang, Tim pretty much offered the usual, don’t be cliché spiel. At this point, I’m pretty much only feeling Irina’s cowl-necked sweater and faux-fur vest.
Lets fit the itty-bitty models! Sadly, Jordana’s model has nothing to put on other than a necklace. Logan has some fit probs with his model—the pants are too small. And Christopher finally realizes that his piece looks “little house on the prairie” and decides to hack up the length on his skirt. Thank goodness for that!
Off to the Runway: And the guest judge for the evening is…Milla Jovovich, with the regulars Nina, MK and Heidi naturally.
This week’s designers who made it to the tippy-top were Carol Hannah, Jordana and Irina. Carol Hannah wowed the judges with her choice of fabric and flowing dress. It was the perf match for her Palm Beach locale. MK thought Jordana’s Park Ave. piece was sleek and sexy and all the judges gushed over her necklace. But the winner and my personal fave was Irina! Her Aspen look was totally fitting. And how she popped out a pair of pants, sweater and faux fur vest was incredible!
Lastly, Nicolas failed to deliver with his slim-fitting gray pants and top. MK thought he fuddled up his inspiration and it was more John Travolta Grease rather than the posh Greece locale. And sadly, this botch up would be his last, as the judges sent him home packing. I agreed with the judges. It was about time Nicolas was sent home. I was never a big fan. How about you? Should Christopher have gone home instead?

Back at the workroom, everyone is feeling the MK pressure.

Before showtime, there seems to be a bit of drama among the designers. Miss Irina-I-didn’t-come-here-to-make-friends doesn’t seem to have many fans with her up turned nose. Is it safe to predict that the claws will come out in upcoming eppies?
After the catwalk, Althea is safe with her St. Tropez inspired number. I loved her shorts. The shine totally took it up a notch.

(Left to Right: Logan, Christopher and Nicolas)
The bottom three were Logan, Nicolas and Christopher. Logan’s young Hollywood sportswear bored the judges and Nina wished he styled his look a bit better. I agree, even though he layered up, all the pieces were so snoozefest. Christopher said he drew inspiration from the sand, sky and rocks of Sante Fe, but I think he took his inspiration too literally. Milla raved over the quality of his belt, but other than that Heidi thought the dress was unwearable and ugly. Ouch!

Who are your fave designers? Who do you think should SO go home? Blog it out, babes.
