These snowboarding sixth graders are taking over the slopes (and giving away free Under Armour!)

There are so many young girls slayin' it out there these days that it can be hard to keep up. But allow us to get you up to speed by introducing twin wonders Devin and Barrett Hendrix. These two snowboarders are no joke. Seriously. They rank among the top 10 female snowboarders in the nation—and they're only in sixth grade.

Let's start at the beginning: The girls fell in love with snowboarding and skiing at a young age thanks to their parents (they're both snowboarders). "I really wanted to be like them. Once I started, I fell in love!" Barrett says. Devin adds, "They put us up on boards when we were 3-years-old. Since the first day, I have always loved being up on the hill and riding with friends."

So how did they become so well-known? Hard work—and inspriation. "My mom is one of my biggest inspirations," Barrett says. "She has such an inspiring work ethic and has taught us that hard work always pays off."

Currently, these elite athletes attend the prestigious American Snowboard Training Center Colorado and are working toward competiting in the Olympics one day.

They work hard, yes, but that doesn't mean they don't like to relax. For these two, kicking back means baking and skateboarding ("I love to make yummy desserts and shred concrete!" says Barrett. They put every cent they make on their banana bread and maccaroon back into funding their love of snowboarding.

Are you hitting the slopes for the first time this year? Devin and Barrett can't emphasize enough the importance it is of great gear. "Warm gear is essential when snowboarding because the mountains are cold and when you fall you want to make sure your gear is water-resistant," says Devin.
