How to plan a family game night

POV: Your mom mentions a family game night, but you don't want to be stuck playing Candyland for the fifth time. Not to worry, because we are here to help you take your family game night to the next level. Who says hanging with the fam needs to be boring? Games plus music and snacks sound like the *perfect* excuse to finally prove to your family your ah-mazing skills. Competition here you come.

1. Snacks, of course.

If you're doing game night after dinner, we recommend making a spread of your family's fave treats to snack on throughout the night. Fruit, veggies and dip, chips, ice cream, cookies...anything works! Or, you could have dinner during the games and make something easy. We love the idea of some game-night nachos.

2. Make a fantastic playlist of your fam's fave music.

Playing in silence does not sound super fun. Create a playlist just for family game night. You could even share it with everyone so that they can add their fave songs themselves. There's also always the possibility of a random game night dance break. Dance off? We think yes.

3. Get together a mix of games.

Have you ever planned on playing a certain game, and when the time comes, you are just *so* not up for it? That's why it's always good to have a few other options close by. Sometimes it's good to get a new game, too—our faves are Avocado Smash, The Game of Life, Pictionary and yes, even Scrabble

4. Create the teams beforehand.

Trying to make teams right before your game night is a surefire way never to start playing. We totally recommend making your teams beforehand. You could also write down names and draw from a hat.

5. Who wants prizes?

Prizes are *the best*. You could either do one main prize for the winning person or team or different prizes for each group. There are so many options, so it's super easy to find something. Whether you want to go the gift card route, give out mini trophies or come up with your own, prizes will make your game night so much more memorable.
