LIFE
Dear Carol
"Dear Carol, am I addicted to my phone?"
Dear Carol,
I got a phone for my birthday and I will admit it's getting hard for me to put it away. I even play games on it when I'm walking, which I know is really dumb. How do I unplug?
–Addicted To My Phone
Dear Addicted To My Phone,
Five stars for realizing that it's important to log off once in awhile, especially when you're walking—you could hurt yourself or someone else by not looking up! Try to be with the people who are actually next to you in real time. It's also bad for your posture to be staring at a device 24/7. Look, cell phones made it easy to say, "I'll be five minutes late," or "Meet you at the movie," or simply, "Hi." But it's a shame to be constantly be distracted by games, tweets, photos, posts and texts. Sometimes, the best thing of all is to put the phone away and talk with someone face-to-face. And by the way, some drivers are distracted and looking at their phones, too. So put down yours and play it safe.
