LIFE
Dear Carol
"I want to be famous! Where do I start?"
Dear Carol,
I was wondering how I can become famous. I’ve always wanted to be an actress or writer, but that’s a one-in-a-million chance.
—Wannabe Famous
Dear Wannabe Famous,
Think of your future in terms of doing what you love and what you’re good at, rather than the fame it might bring. If you love to act, join a theater group. You like to write? Fill notebooks with poems and short stories. Observing talented actors and reading well-written books can also be valuable. As for those one-in-a-million odds, if you have talent and discipline, it’s not at all impossible to become an actress or writer. But fame is harder to control. And while fame might have its perks, it comes at a price. Famous people can’t even go out to eat without being gawked at or even harassed. Careful what you wish for.
