Should I apply for the same college as my boyfriend?  This question is common...and super tough to answer. Although, it might seem like a good idea, it shouldn't be the only deciding factor. Instead, there are many other things to keep in mind. That's why we gathered up a list of things to consider when applying for the same school as your boyfriend. So the answer to your question: Should I?  Can only be answered by you.

1. Make a list of the colleges *you* would like to attend.
On your own, make a list of the colleges you would like to attend. Ask him to do the same. When you are done, compare your lists. This way, you aren't making your list based on where he wants to go. Instead, you are making your list based on where you would like to attend. 

Keep in mind: Making a list of colleges you like, or even applying doesn't mean that is the college you *have* to attend. You can change your mind, if needed. 

2.What are your college goals?
Your next goal is to decide what you want out of college. When you can do that, you will know if a specific college is right for you. Instead, of picking your school because your lists match, pick your school because you can't see yourself attending anywhere else.

Consider these questions: First, what are my college goals? What will this school provide me, that other schools can't? Why do I want to go here? Finally, is the college I am deciding to persue the right choice for me? 

3. Are your interests the same?
Understand, a school that is good for him, might not be the best choice for you. Even if you are getting the same degree, your likes and dislikes could be different. Maybe he likes a big school population and maybe you don't. Maybe you want to go far away for college and maybe he wants to stay local. Either way, the best way you can decide is to ask yourselves these questions. Who knows, maybe your answers will match exactly.

Consider these questions: Do I want a college that is hands on? A big college, with big lecture halls? Or a small college, with small classrooms? 

4. Tour the college together.
If you found a college that seems like it could work for the two of you, tour it together. That way, if you have concerns about the college you are looking at, you can ask the tour guide. You will then also get a feel for being on campus, together. (Win, win). 

Keep in mind: After you begin college, you will adjust. So the things that scare you now, might not scare you after your classes begin. But with this in mind, know what your concerns, fears and worries are, that way you can get them cleared up before day one.
