Potential BF going through a tough time? Make the most of your almost relationship

"I have a problem. This guy and I really like each other like. A lot. The problem is, his mom has stage four cancer and is in treatment, and it's holding me back from dating him. I'm not sure why, maybe because I'd hate to see him hurting and not be able to help, or maybe it involves too much emotion. Either way, it's a little uncomfortable, but I really care about him and want to make him happy. Should I go for it, or let it go and hope the best for him?"

Oh no, girl. This is a complicated situation to be in. It’s hard to see the ones we care about go through tough times, so it makes sense that you don’t wanna see him hurting. A family member with a serious health condition can be a time consuming thing to deal with though, so right now may not be the best time for you two to get together. This could leave you feeling totally helpless, but there are def still ways for you to show your cutie that you care.

Make sure your potential BF knows that you’re there to support him—always. Send him cute texts and adorbs selfies to make him smile, or surprise him with his favorite candy during lunchtime. These little things will make a big difference in his life. If he’s feeling particularity down one day, you can even plan fun things for the two of you to do like catching a flick, playing video games or hitting up the bowling alley.

If you’re brave enough to stick by his side as just a friend during this rough patch, your bond will grow even stronger. He’ll see how supportive you can be and you’ll discover a vulnerable side of him that you’ve never seen before. And, who knows, when life is a little less hectic, the two of you might be able to make things official.
