I don't have a BF yet. Is something wrong with me?

 
 
I don’t have a boyfriend! Most of the girls in my grade have boyfriends. I’m pretty and I don’t understand why I haven't had a boyfriend yet.  It seems everywhere I turn, I see people hugging, holding hands and even kissing. What’s wrong with me?

Dear Lovely But Lonely,

First of all, though couples do stand out, I can almost guarantee that most girls in your grade do not have boyfriends.  If you made a list of girls and next to each wrote the name of her boyfriend (official boyfriend, not big-time heartthrob), you’d see that all your classmates haven’t found soul mates.

 
Second, being pretty helps get you noticed, but only if you are visible.  Invisible girls flock together, sit quietly, never talk to boys, and wonder why boys don’t talk to them.  Visible girls are friendly, approachable, and willing to say hi or initiate conversation.  So while guys notice looks (just as girls do), they are drawn to girls who smile and sparkle and take an interest in them.  Be likeable and friendly and patient, and before you know it, someone you care about will care about you.
