I like this other guy, but I'm still hung up on my ex

 

I have an ex I dated for nine months, and I still like him. He just got a new girlfriend and I'm jealous. But there's this other guy who I also really like. He's cute, really tall and always smiles at me. Should I talk to my ex or should I ask out the other guy and give up on my ex?

 

His Answer: “Your ex has moved on, so it’s okay to just go for the other guy,” says Alex A., 16. “He got a new girlfriend without asking you, so you shouldn’t feel the need to ask him. Also, you’re no longer with him so you don’t need his permission.”

 

Decoded: If he was allowed to move on, you should be allowed to do the same. You shouldn’t feel the need to run everything by your ex anymore, after all, he is your ex. Do whatever you want to do, and don’t worry about what he will think. He’s already moved on, so should feel free too as well.

Your Move: Ask out the other guy! Sure, you might still harbor some feelings for your ex, but you’ll never be able to move on if you sit around and wait for him. Lucky for you, you have another boy you really like! Don’t worry about your ex anymore, and just focus on what will make you the happiest. If you really like this new guy, you should go for it and ask him out.
