CRUSHES
Advice
Oy vey! Am I allowed to have this crush?
I like this boy and he's super sweet and nice. He's Jewish, but my grandma and dad are strict Christians. Help!
Oh dear, it's
the age-old religion question. First thing's first: ask yourself if
religion is important to you in a relationship. If it's not and you
feel like you can connect meaningfully with this boy outside of
religion, then go for it. If you feel like you're not ready for a
labeled relationship, that's okay too. No one is gonna' stop you from
simply crushin' on or flirting with the guy you like.
Consider not
bringing up the religion issue with your fam until you're sure that you
and this boy want to be official. Then, if they're not accepting of
your dating decision, you can discuss it and you can explain why it
doesn't bother you and why you like your BF. Hopefully your grandma and
dad want you to be your happiest, healthiest self. And if dating
someone of a different religion makes you happy, hopefully they'll
support you. Good luck!
