Help! My besties are pressuring me to date a guy I don't like
My friends are pressuring me to go out with this guy and he's
one of my other friends. He's gonna ask me but I don't like him like that. He
is really sweet and I don't want to hurt him. What do I do?
His Answer:
“Don’t be flirty or text him and he should get the message,” says Riley, 15. “If
he doesn’t and ends up asking you out, let him down easy. Say, ‘I like you as a
friend, but not a boyfriend.’ Keep the details to yourself. He’ll be more
embarrassed if he finds out you told you friends everything.”
Decoded:
You gotta make is clear to this guy that you’re only friends.
That means no flirting, even if you think it’s harmless! If he asks you out, be
honest and say you don’t think of him that way. Don’t reveal all the deets to your
gals.
Your
Move: Be careful with this guy. Do your best not to send any signs
that could cause him to think you like him. This means no arm-touching, IMing,
or walking home together. Hopefully, these moves will help him realize you just
want to stay friends. If he ends up asking you to be his girlfriend, be kind
and tell him you don’t like him that way. Keep it between you two so he doesn’t
feel too embarrassed. Hopefully your friends will understand it’s not their
business and things can return to normal.
