Tough time opening up? How to confide in your BF
Embarrassment is a sensation we get when we feel like we are doing something that is against the social norm. Your environment has conditioned you to think that showing emotion to others is not normal.
That being said, showing emotion to your loved ones is perfectly normal and acceptable. Your boyfriend is someone who cares about you a lot and wants to know what you are feeling. It is OK to share your emotions with him. He is not going to judge you or make fun of you. Chances are he just wants to share with him so that he can feel closer to you.
For someone who is not very outwardly emotional learning to share your feelings with your boyfriend can be quite the task to attack it in baby steps. First let him know that you are not very comfortable showing emotion, but that with a bit of help you hope to become better at it. Second, begin to share your feelings on small things such as test grades or community events. This is going to help you form a trusting bond with him, which will make talking about anything easier. Once you feel you are ready you can begin to share your emotions with him about bigger issues like family and your fears.
