I have to make all the moves

I have a BF, but I also have a problem: I’m making all the moves! I am the one who asked him to go out with me and I am the one who always goes over to him to talk. What do I do?

We know guys love confident girls, and we’re totally not in the ‘50s anymore, but is a li’l bit of chivalry too much to ask? I certainly don’t think so! There’s no harm in taking the reins every once in a while, but a relationship should be made up of equals…and that means your dude ought to doin’ some of the work, too.

Leave not-so-subtle hints

Most guys don’t get subtlety at all, so be outright. Tell your guy to come chat you up in the hallway before lunch or plan something fun for after school. Leave the communication to him for a day or two and see what he does. If all you get is radio silence in response, move on to the next step…

Tell him how you feel

I know, I know: ‘Fessing up about your emotions is never a fun conversation, but it’s one you need to have to keep your relationship healthy. Aim for a face-to-face chat while you two are alone. Tell him that you know he likes you, but sometimes you need to be shown. It would be really nice if he could plan a date every once in awhile, or come up to you to talk, instead of you always going up to him.

If he cares about your relationship, he should want to fix the sitch. And let’s face it, this one has a pretty painless solution where he’s concerned. He might be a bit nervous, but once you assure him that you really like hanging out with him and talking to him, his bravery should be boosted. Who knows? Maybe your quiet guy will transform into a knight in shining armor.
