Ellarose Kaylor's new single "I Still Believe" is *so* inspirational
Ten-year-old Ellarose Kaylor is a total triple threat: she's a singer, actress *and* a competitive ice skater. She just released her brand-new single, "I Still Believe," an inspirational and uplifting track that will empower you to chase your dreams. We caught up with Ellarose to chat about her new song, her role models and her upcoming projects.
Girls' Life: What's the message behind your new song "I Still Believe"?
Ellarose: The song "I Still Believe" is about empowering girls to find the fire inside of them, to find their passion and confidence and just to always follow their dreams and believe in themselves.
GL: Can you tell us about the music video for "I Still Believe"?
Ellarose: It's going really well. There's going to be a little bit of ice skating in there!
GL: You were recently cast as Nala in The Lion King on Ice! Has that started up yet?
Ellarose: No, unfortunately [not] because of COVID-19. We were going to Showcase Nationals, but we couldn't because it closed down. But we're hoping that it will start back up again soon.
GL: What was it like to be in the movie Next Level and have three original songs on the movie's soundtrack?
Ellarose: It was really fun because I got to meet a lot of people. The cast was so nice to me because I was the youngest one. It was really fun recording my songs, and it was just really fun altogether because of all the new opportunities.
GL: What's your favorite thing about singing and acting?
Ellarose: I really like how in singing or dancing, there's always going to be a story or an emotion based on it. So, if I'm trying to make the person watching feel an emotion, I would do certain things to make them feel that emotion.
GL: Do you have any advice for GL readers?
Ellarose: My advice is just to always follow your dreams, never give up and just be what you want to be. Sometimes, when I'm ice skating and I keep on falling on a jump or a spin, I will get pretty frustrated, but then I will just believe in myself. And it's all about the mind. If you really believe that you can do it, you actually can do it.
GL: Who are your role models?
Ellarose: For acting, I really look up to Dove Cameron, because I really love all of the shows and movies that she's been in. And then for singing, I really look up to Ariana Grande, because I think she has a really amazing voice.
GL: What's your favorite thing to post on TikTok?
Ellarose: I really like filming the skits, because I get to be all different characters. It's really fun to play either a Karen or a person that works at Ralphs. I love doing the dances, too. They're also really fun.
GL: What have you been doing in quarantine to have fun and relax?
Ellarose: A lot of times I would make up really funny songs, or I would make up dances with my friends or by myself. I would make them up to songs that I really liked, and I would just love doing that every single day.
GL: What are you most looking forward to this year?
Ellarose: I have a Disney Plus short film coming out pretty soon called Little Prince(ss). I think it is really cool, and it has a great message to it.
